1. Install Kakao Taxi App
To use Kakao Taxi, you must first install the Kakao Taxi app. Search for and install Kakao Taxi as shown below, and log in with your KakaoTalk account after simple consent and authentication.

2. How to use Kakao Taxi
If you have installed the Kakao Taxi app, you can see the taxi icon on the first line of the first screen as shown in the picture above.
Step1 Click the taxi icon.
Then, your current location is automatically entered as the starting point. If the departure point is not set properly or you want to board from another location, move the map and set the departure point to the desired location.
Also, in case of a two-way road, it is recommended to check the direction of the taxi. This is because the direction you are going and the direction you are coming from are different due to a slight difference. On wide roads, the distinction is clear, but on one-lane roads, fine-tuning is necessary.

Step2 To select a destination, click ‘Where do you want to go?’ and enter the destination.

If you enter both the departure and destination, the estimated time is displayed on the map and you can see the fare for each taxi. You can choose a taxi from six types: Blue, Venti, Smart Call, Normal Call, Model, and Black.

If you select a taxi, you will be taken to the payment screen as follows. For payment, you can choose to pay directly when you get off the taxi by registering a card or clicking the part shown in the picture below.

1) blue
Blue is a taxi with better service than regular taxis. It is a taxi with fixed working clothes and a charger and hand sanitizer inside. The driver said that although Blue has a fee, it is easier to catch a call because the call comes before a regular taxi. Fares are a bit more expensive than regular taxis, and if you check the app, it doesn’t seem like a big difference at around 300 won.

2) Smart call
Smart Call is a taxi that has a high success rate and is easy to call directly. It’s nothing special, but if you use it at busy times such as commuting time or in an area where there are no taxis, you can catch a taxi a little faster. The downside is that an additional charge of 0~2,000 won is added, and the additional charge varies depending on the time of day and circumstances. 3) General call
A general call is a taxi we usually use. Based on Seoul weekly, the basic fare is 3,800 won for up to 2 km.
4) Venti
This is a spacious and comfortable van taxi. It’s a Ben, so it’s a useful taxi for multiple people. The total number of passengers is 7 people.
In the case of Venti, the fare varies quite a bit depending on the distance or peak time, so it seems that you can use it cheaply or use it expensively.

5) model
The model is the model taxi we usually use. Based on Seoul, the basic fare is 6,500 won up to 3 km.
6) Black
Black is a taxi without taxi markings, which is an upper version of the model taxi. It does not indicate that it is a taxi, and operates as a luxury sedan such as a Mercedes-Benz or BMW. But it is still expensive. Depending on the situation, the fare may be 2~3 times higher than that of a regular taxi.

Kakao Taxi has a smart call. Smart Call is a service that uses artificial intelligence to match taxis with a high probability of successful dispatch.
Since demand and supply change in real time, it was created to adjust taxi fares accordingly. It is a system that adds 1,000 won during the day and 2,000 won at night.
However, Kakao Mobility changed the price of this smart call to a maximum of 5,000 won, and consumers and taxi groups urged that the policy be withdrawn, saying that it is effectively a rate increase and could damage the taxi industry.
In response, Kakao Mobility said, ‘It was a feature introduced to motivate drivers to more actively accept calls in times or regions where it is difficult to get a taxi, but there was a concern that the user’s burden would increase.’ We decided to operate the rate plan by limiting it so that it does not exceed the previous upper limit of 2,000 won.”

5. Kakao Taxi payment method registration
You can also register your payment method in the app and use it conveniently. You can register your card when making a payment, or you can register in [My Information – Payment Method Management] on the first screen of Kakao Taxi.
However, if you register a payment method and make a prepayment using this method, there are some disadvantages. Actual taxi fares are subject to change due to traffic volume and road conditions, but if you pay in advance, you won’t get a refund just because you arrive early.
There are also stories that the estimated arrival time and price of Kakao Taxi are slightly higher than the actual time and cost. It is not a proven story, but in the case of prepayment, it is not possible to prepare for the sudden deterioration of road conditions due to an accident, so I think it is a matter to consider whether a certain part will be added in advance.
Therefore, personally, I think that it is better to go to the destination and pay by selecting ‘Direct Payment’ when making a payment, rather than registering and using a payment method.
However, there are advantages to registering a payment method. This means that if you need to send your girlfriend or acquaintance in a taxi, you can make a prepayment right away. Or, if you need to bring someone you know, we can send a taxi to pick you up safely.
