New Okcheon travel guide map, tourist attractions at a glance

The newly published travel map features hand-drawn images of 19 major tourist attractions. Dunjubong in Annam-myeon expressed the topography of the Korean Peninsula created by the Geumgang River as an image, and Okcheon Old Town, which has many things to see such as Jeong Ji-yong’s birthplace, Okjusamaso, and the Traditional Culture Experience Center, was visualized with thatched houses and traditional hanoks that matched each area.
Jangnyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest, which has a different charm in each season, depicts beautiful autumn foliage, a swaying bridge, and stream water, and Busodamak, a natural landscape, and Hyangsuho Lake Road, which was recently opened, were depicted as pictures that go well with Daecheong Lake.
The lower part of the map lists four same-day trip courses and two one-night, two-day trip courses with photos to help tourists make their travel plans easier. The back of the map includes information on the nine famous sights selected last year, recommended travel destinations, festivals, and specialty foods. It also introduces themed travel routes such as the Old Town Tour through Alleys, the Hyangsu 100-ri Road, the Hyangsu Lake Road, and the Cheongsan/Cheongseong 9-color Tour.
The county plans to distribute the newly designed travel map through Daejeon and Chungbuk tourist information centers and highway rest area information centers, and to place it at major tourist attractions such as the Jeong Ji-yong Literature Museum, Janggye Tourist Site, and Traditional Culture Experience Center. It also plans to install tourist information baskets so that tourists can easily access them at restaurants, teahouses, and experience centers frequently visited by tourists, and to gradually replace the comprehensive tourist information boards installed in various locations with the new map.
Hwang Su-seop, head of the Culture and Tourism Division, said, “Last year, through the reorganization, two teams within the department were busy developing tourism resources and marketing,” and added, “We will come up with new ideas and actively promote them for the changing Okcheon tourism.”
