실업급여 신청방법When you become involuntarily unemployed and need to apply for unemployment benefits, it is often difficult to know where to start and what to do. Today, we will take a closer look at the process from immediately after unemployment until the day you receive unemployment benefits.
If an employee becomes unemployed, the employer must report a loss of employment insurance eligibility and a confirmation of job change to the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service branch office under the jurisdiction of the workplace. In the event of unemployment, workers may request their employer to submit the relevant documents. Employers must complete the job change report within 10 days after the worker requests the company to issue a job change confirmation certificate. If it is not submitted by the deadline, a fine (100,000 won) may be imposed. If the cause of loss (termination) occurs due to a worker changing jobs, the report on loss of insurance eligibility at the workplace must be reported to the Corporation by the 15th of the month following the month in which the date of job change falls. However, if the worker requests to report the loss before the same date, the report must be made without delay. – Inquiry on processing of job change confirmation: Employment Insurance > Personal Service > Inquiry – Report/inquiry on workplace insurance eligibility report status: Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service
In the event of unemployment, the first thing the person concerned must do is access Worknet (https://www.work.go.kr) and apply for a job. Worknet job applications can be applied through a PC or mobile app. It is convenient to download the WorkNet app on your mobile phone. Move to site: Worknet job application submission
After completing the job application on Worknet, access the Employment Insurance website and receive online training for eligible applicants. This course can also be taken through the Employment Insurance mobile app. There are some precautions in the online training for applicants eligible for benefits, so please be sure to keep them in mind and complete the course. – Be sure to visit your local employment center within 14 days after the end of the training and complete the application for benefits (if you do not visit the center within 14 days after the end of the training, your training completion history will be lost) – If you do not complete the course within 7 days from the start date of the training, you will start from the beginning. Must retake the course – If 30 minutes elapse without any additional intervention, you will be automatically logged out.

If you have completed the online training for applying for a job on Worknet and applying for employment insurance eligibility, you must visit the employment center in your area of residence within 14 days of completing the training and apply for recognition of eligibility in person. When applying for recognition of eligibility for benefits, you can receive guidance on training for the first unemployment recognition date from the center. If you look at the example below, you can see that when you visit the center, you will be notified of the assignment of an unemployment benefit representative, the date of the first unemployment recognition date, and the time to attend training.

Unemployment recognition day is the day on which a person eligible for job-seeking benefits certifies re-employment activities and is held 1-2 times a month on a set date. You can receive detailed information by attending the first training day. Usually, the first unemployment recognition date is replaced by visiting the relevant center and participating in offline training, and after that, unemployment recognition can be recognized by submitting various job-seeking and non-job-seeking activities online. Specific standards for the activity will also be provided during the first offline training. Please note that if unemployment is not recognized on the designated date and in the designated manner, unemployment benefits for the relevant period may not be paid.
