Samcheok Travel

There are many places to visit and delicious places in Samcheok. The most famous one is probably Samcheok Sol Beach Resort. And on this trip, where I visited Boss Crab, famous for its crab dishes, and Samcheok Dogye Glass Village near Samcheok, I didn’t bring a camera because I didn’t plan on taking pictures. Sol Beach Resort, which I arrived at after driving 3 hours and 30 minutes from Daegu, was as wonderful as expected.

As soon as I arrived at my accommodation, I changed into my swimsuit and entered the water park. Of course, because it was early winter, the outdoor water park was not operating, and only 4 outdoor spas were operating, and the indoor water park was operating as it was. The indoor water park was a bit smaller than Daemyung Resort in Mungyeong, but it was fun because there weren’t many people. After enjoying the water park for about 3 hours, I headed to Boss Crab, famous for its crab dishes, with my kids. Samcheok Boss Crab: 39 Themetown-gil, Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do / 033-575-8784

Boss Crab is close enough to be a 5-minute drive from Sol Beach Resort. Since it is such a famous restaurant, the restaurant vehicle was already inside the resort to pick up guests during dinner time. We went by private vehicle, but if you need to be picked up, you can tell the restaurant and they will pick you up.

When we entered Boss Crab, there were already many people and the smell of crab tickled our noses. Since the price of crab dishes varies depending on the market price, we could only find out the price when we visited the restaurant that day. It usually varies depending on the number of people, but it was around 100,000 to 400,000 won.

First, assorted sashimi and simple side dishes came out, and then butter chili shrimp? Anyway, shrimp deliciously grilled with butter came out. Most people order sets at Boss Crab, and the set menus are slightly different, but most consist of assorted sashimi, grilled shrimp, crab, and ramen. So we also got side dishes, raw fish, and grilled shrimp, and the food disappeared in an instant.

Then the main dish, crab, came out. When the crab (4 crabs) first came out, I thought I wouldn’t be able to eat much because it looked surprisingly small, but somehow it didn’t feel like it was enough for 5 adults and 2 children. I remember there were about 2 legs left at the end… Anyway, the crab was so big and meaty that I got full quickly.

The kids also gave it a thumbs up and were completely absorbed in the taste of the crab. After eating all the crab, they mixed rice on the shell, which was also really delicious, and after finishing all the crab, seafood ramen came out. Ha-min asked why we weren’t filming the food today. That’s right. I should have brought a camera!

After having a delicious dinner, we played games at the accommodation, and had a fun day.

The next day, before going home, we headed to the nearby Dogye Glass Village for the children’s experiential learning report. In fact, there was a place to experience glass crafts at the accommodation, but I thought it would be better to go to the main(?) and experience it myself, so I headed to Dogye Glass Village. When I arrived at the glass village, which was about 30 minutes from Sol Beach Resort, there was a garden where I could take a leisurely walk and a glass craft museum.

I tried to go to the glass craft museum with my kids and try glass crafts myself, but they said it was only for elementary school students and older, so I gave up and just watched the glass crafts. There were various glass crafts, the origin of glass, and products on display here, and I was able to see really pretty and beautiful glass crafts.

Families traveling to Samcheok with children should definitely visit at least once to write a field trip report and enjoy a quiet walk and contemplation. As a side note, there is Pinocchio Land across from Dogye Glass Village, where you can see wood crafts instead of glass. Of course, there is an entrance fee, but if you purchase it as a package with Glass Village, you can use it at a lower price. //

This is Bae Ki-young’s brunch.
