디딤씨앗통장 70,000 children using Didim Seed Account → 203,000… Enlarge 3x – Policy News | News | Republic of Korea Policy Briefing

디딤씨앗통장Starting this year, the number of children who can use the Didim Seed Account, a ‘children’s magic account that turns 50,000 won into 150,000 won,’ will increase significantly from 70,000 last year to 203,000, which is about three times that of children.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare expanded the Didim Seed Account, which was only open to those aged 12 to 17 with an income below 40% of the median income, to allow all children from households receiving basic welfare with an income below 50% of the median income, aged 0 to 17, from this year. It was announced on the 17th.
The Didim Seed Account project helps low-income children, such as children under protection and those receiving basic livelihood assistance growing up in foster homes or child care facilities, minimize the transmission of poverty when they enter society and create assets to help them prepare for the initial costs of entering society. This is a supported project.
If a child receives sponsorship or saves money in his or her own account, the government matches the accumulated amount at a 1:2 ratio and supports up to 100,000 won per month.
In this way, if a child saves 50,000 won a month, the government subsidy of 100,000 won is added, for a total of 150,000 won.
These assets can be used to support housing expenses, student loans, technical qualifications and job training expenses, medical expenses, and start-up and marriage expenses when young people after the age of 18 enter society, such as going to college or getting a job.
In particular, starting this year, the age and income criteria for children in households receiving basic livelihood security will be greatly increased, so the number of children who can sign up for the Didim Seed Account will increase by nearly three times this year.
Anyone wishing to open a Didim Seed account can visit the administrative welfare center in their town, village or neighborhood, or apply online at Bokjiro (www.bokjiro.com) or Government 24 (www.gov.kr). Anyone wishing to donate to Didim Seed Account can apply on the Didim Seed Account website (www.adongcda.or.kr).
Meanwhile, Lee Ki-il, First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, met with people involved in the Didim Seed Account project at the Children’s Rights Guarantee on the 17th, youth preparing for self-reliance who have accumulated assets for self-reliance through Didim Seed Account, and youth receiving basic living security and collected opinions from the field. .
A young man who attended the meeting that day said, “I saved a lump sum of money through the Didim Seed account, which was a great help in achieving my goals and living in college. It’s a pity that I have many friends around me who don’t know much about it, so I hope it gets promoted well.”
Vice Minister Lee said, “Now, if you save consistently from the age of 0, you can save up to 30 million won in lump sum by the age of 18, so I hope that many households receiving basic livelihood security will participate,” and “low-income children for whom even 50,000 won a month is a huge burden.” He asked for help, saying, “Please support us.”
