Step4: Select the rental type and enter the rental cost (deposit, monthly rent, etc.).
Step5: Enter the address and tenant name of the residential building.
Step6: Click the Request Tenant Verification button.
As of 2023, those eligible to apply for a monthly rent refund are as follows.
※ Not only apartments, but also single-family homes, officetels, and gosiwons are available. However, as explained above, you must be a household that does not own a house, so if you have your own house but are renting somewhere else, you cannot apply.
So how much is the monthly rent tax deduction? The amount of the deduction depends on your total salary and comprehensive income.
For example, assuming that Mr. A, whose total salary is less than 55 million won, pays monthly rent of 500,000 won, the total monthly rent for one year is 6 million won.
In this case, you can receive a refund of 6 million won x 0.17 = 1.02 million won.
If you assume that you paid monthly rent of 1 million won each, for a total of 12 million won, the maximum deduction limit is 7.5 million won, so you cannot deduct all of the 12 million won, but you can receive a tax deduction of 750 x 0.17 = 1.275 million won.
