▶ How to report when you are voice phishing.
If you receive a voice phishing call or text message and your account is transferred to a phishing scammer, you must report it as follows.

 

1. Report by phone

Immediately report the damage to the National Police Agency (112), the Financial Supervisory Service (1332) and the customer center of the relevant financial company to request suspension of payments.

 

2. Report online

You can stop the payment by calling the financial institution, or you can apply for suspension of payment (stop payment to my account) yourself.

If payment is suspended through the My Account Payment Suspension Service, all withdrawal transactions including direct debit and open banking will be suspended, and the check card linked to the account will also be unavailable.

There is something to be aware of about the My Account payment suspension service. This is the direct way to cancel payment suspension. In the integrated account management service, it is not possible to cancel the account at once, and most financial institutions, except Internet banks such as Kakao Bank, Toss Bank, and K Bank, can cancel it by visiting a branch. Therefore, please apply for suspension of payment very carefully only for the necessary accounts.

 

▶ How to take action when personal information such as ID and account number is leaked or malicious app installation is suspected due to access to a suspicious URL.

3. Inquiry on whether or not to open a stolen account

– Check the details of deposit and loan accounts opened in your name (bank, account number, opening date, balance, etc.).

– If an account for identity theft is opened and a non-face-to-face loan is executed, report the damage to the financial company and apply for suspension of payment.

 

4. Query whether or not a stolen mobile phone has been opened.

– Click the ‘subscription fact status inquiry service’ menu to check whether the mobile phone opened in your name is opened.

– If a cell phone for identity theft is opened, immediately apply for line termination and report identity theft to the mobile carrier.

– Click the ‘subscription restriction service’ menu to block the opening of a new mobile phone under your name.

 

 

 

▶ Voice phishing damage relief method.
1. The victim applies for payment suspension by phone or online (account information integrated management service) to the financial institution that manages the account used for the crime. If you do it by phone, you must submit the documents required for payment suspension (incident accident fact confirmation, damage relief application) within 3 days.

 

2. The victim visits the local police station (Cyber Investigation Team) to report the damage, and requests the police officer who received the report to receive an ‘Incident Accident Fact Checker’.

※ There are things you should know before visiting the police station. If you visit the police station after filling out civil application documents such as an online statement in the Cyber Crime Reporting System (ECRM), you can drastically reduce the investigation time at the police station.
In addition, in the case of multi-damage cyber fraud in which multiple people have been victimized, if at least one of the victims reports online and is present at the police station for investigation, the other victims can be formally investigated only by reporting online without attending the police station.

 

3. The victim visits the financial institution that applied for suspension of payment, fills out the ‘Damage Relief Application’ and submits it together with the ‘Incident Accident Fact Checker’.

 

4. The financial institution takes measures to suspend payment of the requested account and requests the Financial Supervisory Service to announce the expiration of deposit receivables. Deposit receivable expiration notice refers to a public announcement that legally declares that the account owner’s money is not legally used to return the balance remaining in the fraudulent account used by the voice phishing victim to deposit the damage to the victims.

 

5. The Financial Supervisory Service announces the expiration of bonds for two months, and if there is no objection within this period, the bond expiration is finalized (within 14 days) and the refund decision is notified to the financial company.

 

6. When the financial institution is notified of the above refund decision, the financial institution will refund the amount to the victim. (usually takes 2-3 days)

1. Refund through the damage relief procedure is possible if the balance remains in the account used for the crime. If there is no balance left and all is withdrawn, there is no choice but to proceed with a separate civil lawsuit against the suspect.

 

2. If there are more victims compared to the balance remaining in the account used for the crime, and the sum of each victim’s damage amount is greater than the balance, the entire amount of damage may not be refunded for each victim.
